Measurement:

12. How will you measure success?

At the beginning of the grant calendar year, surveys at pilot sites will assess initial access to video/digital equipment/instruction, both for student and teacher. The surveys will also ask students to document use of media at home as well as in the classroom. Students will account for time spent participating in digital activities. Teachers will self-evaluate their skill level prior to the technology integration. These surveys will guide the need for instruction and training, as well as practical applications of the equipment in lesson plans and assessments.

At the end of the first year of the grant, similar surveys will be completed to receive feedback on the technology integration and measure student and teacher growth. By providing support for teachers at the building and district-level, and allowing students to get their hands on digital equipment, positive qualitative feedback is anticipated as well as objective, quantitative results.

Student media projects will be assessed by the use of rubrics. These rubrics will be teacher-created, or can be easily downloaded from the district's website. When appropriate, media projects will take the place of traditional assignments and be a part of students' classroom grades. Teachers could also solicit parent evaluations to assess student work because of the ease of digital project access from the home.

Success will also be measured by the number of videos posted and podcasts accessed or downloaded on PowerMediaPlus, a media-on-demand website that encourages sharing and locating media based on standards and concepts. The number of views these projects receive, including parent and community member access of videos, will be documented.

However, the greatest impact will be witnessed by the increase in student engagement as evidenced by improved student attendance, assignment completion, and learning. (ADD TO)

*videoconference sessions scheduled, (is this an introduction of a new idea???)

The most obvious way we can measure success is by the number of videos posted, video conference sessions scheduled, and podcasts listened to or downloaded. However the greater impact will be witnessed by the increase in student engagement as evidenced by improved student learning.
